BARNABAS SHAKUR KAMALYA HERMOND, Manager of Foot Soldiers ANDRE CAMPBELL, Manager of Foot Soldiers, joined Project Re-Generation in 2003 as a Rites of Passage (ROP) program participant. He was born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY. Growing up in a neighborhood with a reputation of toughness, violence and crime, many of his closest friends could not elevate over the community’s ignorant demeanor, consequently resulting in their death or incarceration. Andre’s upbringing inspired him to join PR-G and help guide his peers through PR-G’s programs. Although being a “tough guy” has never been his preference, he learned to be tough in all aspects of life; not just the streets. He is currently majoring in Criminal Justice at John Jay University with the intention on pursuing a career in law. Persistence, dedication, and passion will help him achieve his goals. He believes the youth in Bed-Stuy needs to be dedicated, passionate, and persistent; and with his experience and education he is eliminating teenage idleness. PAUL PORTER, Foot Soldiers Supervisor
